Presales Architect

About the Role

As a presales architect you will be responsible for supporting our sales team by providing technical and architectural direction in respect of products and services within our Managed and Professional Services portfolio; creating and documenting technical solutions that Ethan proposes to its customers; updating internal pre-sales systems and maintaining CRM records daily. You will also be delegated with the task of ensuring the successful selling and implementation of technical solutions; and monitoring the ongoing client satisfaction in the Post-Sales phase.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Seek out and analyse customer requirements to determine the best solution for a client’s business problems, including discussing directly with customer management and executive leadership where required;
  • Conduct user requirement analysis and make recommendations that impact technical solutions;
  • Undertake tasks requiring analysis of multiple technical alternatives, diagnosis and problem solving, then qualifying the product/service fit and defining support needs;
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of products and services to fulfil customer needs for selected accounts
  • Responsible for designing, pricing, and presenting major Managed and Professional Services, Networking, Unified Communications, Security and Cloud solutions, strategies and architectures;
  • Define major technical solutions involving product and/or deployment and/or support services for clients or prospective clients enabling them to determine effective IT investment strategies;
  • Manage client expectations prior to delivery of major solutions, strategies and architectures;
  • Write and shape technical responses and proposals to meet client requirements, including the potential to propose solution and/or service trade-offs and present those solutions to the client;
  • Work with suppliers to obtain quotes to fulfil solution requirements;
  • Work with our Legal team to ensure that the paperwork, comprising commercial and legal components, is compiled correctly throughout the sales process;
  • Provide demonstrations, presentations, training, consultation and sales support services for the Sales team, clients and customer support;
  • Maintain key supporting systems (including CRM) and processes that support the sales team;
  • Assisting the Sales Team with Pre-Sales activities including the development and delivery of formal Sales plans and proposals;
  • Ensure achievement of Sales targets and customer satisfaction through the delivery of the highest quality Pre-Sales support;
  • Assisting with Post-Sales support where required; and
  • Assist with the preparation of content for marketing material and documentation.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Achieve personal Pre-Sales Targets at all times;
  • Other duties as may be delegated by the Business Unit Manager from time to time; and
  • Conduct all activities in accordance with company policies and procedures, as may be amended from time to time.

Essential Skills

  • Strong stakeholder management skills and an ability to converse with those at the C-Suite level and IT Managers;
  • Ability to develop, write and review complex customer facing documents including proposals and technical documentation;
  • Ability to tailor presentations and proposals according to needs and varying levels of understanding of different audiences;
  • Specialise in a technical area such as networking, security, cloud services, managed services, unified
    communications, security, data centre or service provider solutions, but comfortable discussing a broad range of IT services and solutions;
  • Ability to learn technical concepts quickly and maintain a broad knowledge of industry trends and technology solutions in the market that may impact solution architecture;
  • Expert level of proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Visio);
  • Analytical, diagnostic, project management and problem-solving skills; and
  • Commercially savvy while maintaining strong ethics and respecting client confidentiality.

Technical Skills

Infrastructure and Cloud specific skills:
o Fluent knowledge of infrastructure-based solutions (including server, storage, virtualisation, storage
switching, backup technologies, DR solutions);
o Broad understanding of Microsoft-based software and virtualisation solutions (including the hypervisor,
Windows Server operating systems, and core Microsoft applications such as Active Directory, Exchange
and SQL Server); and
o Understanding of public cloud services and solutions based on Microsoft Azure and AWS.

Networking and UC specific skills:
o Fluent knowledge of carrier network types, and their comparative strengths and weaknesses for various business requirements;
o Ability to design WAN and SD-WAN networks based on customer requirements, budgets and available connectivity mediums; and

o Understanding of VoIP, SIP, ISDN, Mitel and Cisco voice technologies and Cisco video conferencing technologies.

Cyber Security
o Fluent knowledge of cyber related frameworks and approaches to designing solutions to help clients
manage cyber related risks; and
o Broad understanding of security services and solutions at the people, process and technology level.

Qualifications

  • 8-9 years of over all experience in the IT industry;
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in a Pre-Sales or similar role in the IT industry is essential;
  • Previous experience in an MSP environment highly regarded; and
  • Current technical vendor certifications across key vendors are desirable (e.g., Cisco, VMWare, Microsoft, Dell).
