About the Role
The Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for the management, maintenance, and optimization of Oracle database systems. This role involves designing, implementing, and supporting database systems to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and security. The Oracle DBA collaborates with other IT professionals, developers, and stakeholders to meet organizational data management needs.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Guides Associate Database Administrator in installing/upgrading of Database Server when needed
- Assists Team Manager in liaising with management for issues and concerns that are critical for Database Operations
- Monitors and documents success/failure of Database backups for future planning requirements
- Monitors and documents success/failure of scheduled Database jobs and escalates problems to Team Manager when needed
- Responsible for providing solutions to Database related problems At the soonest possible time by providing assistance to other staff and users. escalates to Team Manager when needed
- Responsible for providing adhoc user requests such as Data extraction and report generation, in line with the proper Database requests forms
- Assists in liaising with Database users in giving Database consultation based on business requirements and user’s needs.
- Responsible for Monitoring and maintaining security of databases and Database software on corporate, application, Database, role, program, and when applicable, table, view and column levels in cooperation with security experts and Systems programmers
- Responsible for performance tuning and corrective maintenance to assure that Database are performing efficiently and as expected.
- Responsible for implementing disk space management to use as input for capacity planning requirements.
- Responsible for creating primary Database storage structures (tablespaces) after application developers have designed an application
- Responsible for modifying the Database storage structures and parameters, as necessary, from information given by application developers, and vendor consultants
- Responsible for keeping up to date with latest product patches in order to ensure Data integrity and security effectiveness.
Qualifications
- 4 years of proven experience as an Oracle Database Administrator.
- In-depth knowledge of Oracle database architecture, features, and best practices.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL.
- Familiarity with database security principles and practices.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willing to Provide after office Support
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Advanced oral and written communication skills
- Work schedule includes working as on call support
