Microsoft Modern Workplace Engineer

About the Role

The Microsoft Modern Workplace Engineer will be responsible for the day to day of our Managed services customers overall solutions and the overall transition from Professional Service to Managed Services. Must have the ability to take ownership of Microsoft’s Modern Workplace suite of solutions. Experienced with the modern workplace based on Microsoft – Intune, Microsoft 365, MECM (SCCM), Office 365, Enterprise Mobility + Security (EMS).

The Microsoft Modern Workplace Engineer is a technical specialist responsible for providing operational support for end user devices within the Managed Services framework offered to our clients. This includes remote support, with a focus on ensuring optimal performance, stability, and user satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Understand Architecture, design, deploy Microsoft’s Modern Workplace suite of solutions
  • Lead the transition into the Modern Workplace which comprises Windows 10/11, Enterprise Mobility and Security, Office 365, Teams, etc
  • Deliver Modern Desktop Solutions – Windows 10 / 11 with Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Microsoft Intune/Microsoft Endpoint Manager
  • Deployment and Configuration of Windows 10 / 11 with Office 365 including Image Creation or Autopilot/Intune deployment and related components for Active Directory & Group Policy
  • Windows 10 / 11 Servicing model with Configuration Manager or Windows Update for Business and Intune co-management, hybrid configuration, deployments and integration with other Microsoft solutions includes Microsoft Defender for Endpoint
  • Strong understanding of Unified Endpoint Management (UEM)/Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM)/Mobile Device Management (MDM) platforms
  • Provide the necessary technical leadership in a mobility environment
  • Maintain up to date expertise in mobile technology solutions
  • Provide Desktop Support to users of our Managed Device services in line with agreed SLAs;
  • Provide monitoring and reporting on Managed Devices and Services as required;
  • Adhere to the EUC Support Framework and policies relating to Change, Incident, Request and Problem Management;
  • Identify and log problem records for root cause analysis;
  • Develop product and/or service documentation;
  • Customer technical engagement;
  • Vendor technical engagement;
  • Provide escalation support as required, working to resolutions;
  • Collaborate with key vendors, customers and internal teams for any services and technical improvements;
  • Coordinate changes and outages to the product, ensuring all changes are implemented subject to our Change Management Guidelines;
  • Provide support for related project services and support PMs in managing project scope and risks;
  • Conduct training to customers, engineering teams and other internal teams as required; · Document processes and known errors into Knowledgebase articles to facilitate time to resolution;
  • Participate in a rotating 24/7 and/or on-call roster;

Essential Technical Skills

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft365, Windows 10 / 11 (incl. WVD/VDI), Intune, SCCM, Office 365, Enterprise Mobility + Security (EMS), , JAMF, iOs.
  • Microsoft Office 365 Security, Azure ATP, DLP, AIP, Windows Defender ATP, Azure AD, Azure AD PIM
  • PowerShell and other scripting language
  • Up-to-date knowledge of Microsoft products
  • Exceptional skills in Windows Desktop Support (all current versions);
  • Understanding of Remote Access – Citrix, Direct Access & SaaS applications;
  • Competent in administration and troubleshooting of Active Directory policies, user accounts and profiles;
  • A solid understanding of desktop virtualisation technologies; and
  • Ability to write problem documentation, analyse data and report.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, with strong troubleshooting and investigation skills.

Experience

  • Prior experience in a Managed Services Provider environment essential;
  • Strong experience in a technical customer-facing role.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a Level 2 – 3 Support capacity
  • Sound understanding of ITIL Framework

  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop AdministratoR
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
  • Microsoft Certified: Security Operations Analyst Associate
  • ITIL 4
