Functional Tester

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Functional Tester to join our team. The Functional Tester will be responsible for ensuring that our software products meet the specified requirements and function correctly before they are released to end users. This role involves executing test cases, reporting defects, and working closely with developers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality software solutions.

• Shift: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
• Work set-up: On-site
• Location: BGC / Ortigas

Key Responsibilities:

Test Planning and Preparation:

• Review and analyze system specifications and business requirements.
• Develop comprehensive test plans and test cases.
• Identify and prepare test data for various test scenarios.

Test Execution:

• Perform functional, regression, integration, and system testing.
• Execute test cases manually or using automated testing tools.
• Record and document results, compare them with expected outcomes, and identify discrepancies.

Defect Management:

• Identify, report, and track defects using issue tracking tools.
• Work closely with developers to resolve defects and verify fixes.
• Retest resolved defects to ensure they are fixed.

Collaboration and Communication:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Participate in project meetings and provide updates on testing progress.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders to clarify requirements and resolve issues.

Continuous Improvement:

• Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing processes and methodologies.
• Stay updated with the latest testing tools, techniques, and industry trends.

Qualifications:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Experience:

• at least 3+ years of relevant experience as a Functional Tester.
• Experience with various types of testing (functional, regression, integration, system).
• Familiarity with software development methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall.

Skills:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in using testing tools and software such as JIRA, TestRail, Selenium, etc.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in software testing (e.g., ISTQB).
• Experience with automated testing tools.
• Familiarity with programming languages such as Java, Python, or JavaScript.
• Knowledge of database concepts and SQL.
