About The Role
Eastvantage needs a data scientist to help us with our analytics and our storytelling. Interpreting our data doesnt merely require understanding of various advanced statistical concepts, it also requires an understanding of people and how to visualise behaviours, trends and patterns.
The ideal candidate’s favourite words should be learning, data, scale, and agility.
Responsibilities:
Identifying relevant data sources for business needs
Collecting structured and unstructured data from internal and external sources
Identifying missing data
Organising data into usable formats
Building predictive models
Building machine learning algorithms
Enhancing the data collection process
Processing, cleansing & verifying of data
Generating information and insights from data sets and identifying trends and patterns
Preparing reports for executive and project teams using Tableau, PowerBI or other visualisation tools
Position Requirements
Qualifications:
You’ll typically have a degree in a computer science, mathematical or science-based subject and know programming languages such as R, Python, SQL, C or Java and have strong database design and coding skills.
Skills:
You’ll need to have:
excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
experience in database interrogation and analysis tools, such as Hadoop, SQL and SAS
exceptional communication and presentation skills in order to explain your work to people who don’t understand the mechanics behind data analysis
effective listening skills in order to understand the requirements of the business
drive and the resilience to try new ideas if the first one doesn’t work – you’ll be expected to work with minimal supervision, so it’s important that you are able to motivate yourself
planning, time management and organisational skills
the ability to deliver under pressure and to tight deadlines
great attention to detail
teamworking skills and a collaborative approach to sharing ideas and finding solutions.
