About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and technically skilled Backend Engineer. In this role, you will focus on monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving backend-related issues, including PRTG, backup solutions, and security incidents. Experience with Managed Service Providers (MSPs) is a plus, though not strictly required. Roles and Responsibilities
PRTG Monitoring:
- Identify and resolve backend issues that impact the performance or functionality of PRTG.
- Collaborate with other team members to troubleshoot backend-related problems.
- Manage and address incidents related to backend performance, generating reports on performance and resolutions.
Backup Check (Veeam, Altaro, O365):
- Troubleshoot and resolve backup failures and performance issues across various platforms (Veeam, Altaro, O365).
- Provide regular reports on backup performance, job statuses, and recovery tests.
- Work with technical teams to ensure backup solutions are fully integrated and functional.
Worktop Backup Reports:
- Collect and analyze logs from backup systems to detail the status of each backup job, including completions and failures.
- Collaborate with teams to ensure seamless operations of backup solutions.
Microsoft Lighthouse – Risky User Monitoring:
- Monitor and investigate users flagged for risky behavior or security incidents.
- Generate detailed reports summarizing the nature of risky behavior and actions taken to mitigate risks.
CMDB (Configuration Management Database) Maintenance:
- Ensure Configuration Items (CIs) in the CMDB are up to date with accurate state, attributes, and relationships within the IT environment.
- Update key attributes such as status, location, owner, and support group to reflect any changes.
Phishing & Email Threat Analysis:
- Investigate phishing emails and reported incidents, reviewing email headers and other indicators of phishing attempts.
- Provide detailed analysis and reporting to relevant stakeholders with recommended actions.
Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):
- Proven experience working as a Backend Engineer or in a similar role.
- Familiarity with backup solutions (Veeam, Altaro, O365), PRTG monitoring, and security incident handling.
- Understanding of Configuration Management Databases (CMDB) and best practices for maintaining accurate records.
- Ability to analyze and respond to phishing incidents, identifying potential threats within email communications.
- Strong report generation and communication skills, providing clear technical insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience working within a Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment is a plus.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Lighthouse and security monitoring is an advantage.
- ITIL knowledge is a bonus, though not mandatory.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey technical issues clearly and efficiently.
